Maximum Ride Schools Out Forever by James Patterson

In the story Maximum Ride Schools out Forever, a young fourteen year old part human part bird girl with wings named Max and her friends Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Nudge who like Max have wings and their talking dog Total, have just escaped from the sinister genetic alteration lab called the institute where they find new information who they are and who their parents are. Everyone is excited about their new found information, everyone except for Max who for some reason did not show up in these files and is being haunted by the words of her most hated enemy Jeb, an evil scientist who pretended to be Max and her friends loving care taker, told her that she has just killed her own brother Ari, a young eight year old who is not so innocent when he mutates into a fully grown half man half wolf monster. But how can he be Max's brother if Ari was Jebs son, could this mean that Max is actually Jebs daughter and that everything she believed about her family is lie? But right now Max doesn't have time to worry about herself, only to worry about getting to Washington D.C. and discovering the truth about her and her friends family. But Max's "peaceful" flight is soon disrupted when she stumbles upon a disturbing sight, flying half man half wolf Erasers like Ari only with massive clumsy wings and to add to Max's horror she discovers that among them is Ari the wingless dead boy who she had just killed about a day ago has risen from the dead new and improved. Max and her friends have no choice but to fight but this battle does not have a happy ending Max and her friends manage to defeat Ari and the other Eraser, however Fang is severely injured and one of their worst nightmares is realized they need to go to the hospital. Things quickly go wrong when the doctors discover that Fang has wings and so do his friends, and to add to their troubles the FBI soon become involved with Max and her friends identities. They soon begin to batter each one of them with countless questions and one of them Anne make a dangerous deal with Max that if Max and her friends decided to stay with her and tell her more about who they are she would Fang receive the best health support possible and that she'll give them a place to stay. Max must know decide on whether she should do whats best for Fang and trust a person who she barley knows or risk Fangs life. Oh yah p.s. Max is some how suppose to save the world.
I feel bad for Max and her friends. First they escape from a mad scientist lab after Max allegedly killed her own brother, then they're being chashed by a group of flying Erasers along with Ari who Max just killed, and now they're trapped in a deal that they can't get out of. Talk about having a rough day. I'm also worried for Max because I'm not sure how killing Ari and seeing him come back to life will affect her. Not to menetion the misterious voice that seems to know everything about who she is and is causing her to dought herself as leader. Plus Max has to somehow save the world from an enemy she doesn't know. But Max's trouble worry me about what she might do in reaction to these troubles and what affect they'll have in Max.
I found this story to be full of constant action, emotion and even romance that helps the reader follow the story easily while still being unpredictable. The story also has a numerous of humor that lightens the intense mood of both the story and characters only making the reading that much better. This yet another truly excellent book that I will never forget.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

In the story the Lost Hero a young, about fifteen year old, boy named Jason appears out of no where and is suddenly sucked into a Wilderness school, for misbehaved children, field trip to the Grand Canyon. Jason is confused and soon realizes he can't remember anything since his arrival on this mysterious trip, however he is comforted by two people, Leo, who claims to be his best friend, and Piper, who claims to be Jason's girlfriend. Jason's world is suddenly spiraling out of control and tries to explain how they can't be his friends if he has no memory of them, however despite his efforts Piper and Leo insist that they are his friends and they've spent the last year together at the Wilderness school. Jason is not positive as to what he should do, so he reluctantly follows his new found friends and goes along with the field trip. At first things seem to be going well, however things soon go wrong when a flash storm hits the Grand Canyon and Jason along with Leo, Piper, and their gym teacher,Coach Hedge are trapped outside and separated from the rest of group. But this is not the worst of it all, for soon a group of vicious venti or storm spirits attack and nearly kill Jason and his friends. However, when Jason reaches for a gold coin in his pocket it suddenly turns into a shining gold sword and slays the storm spirits. All but one named Dylan who furiously attacks Jason and sends the others flying. To Jason's surprise, in a desperate attempt to save his friends, he summons a bolt of lightning and scares away Dylan, who sadly manages to take away Jason's coach, Coach Hedge, who turned out to be a half man half goat satyr. After defeating their enemies, Jason and his friends are acquainted by a young girl, on a flying chariot, named Annabeth who tells them to come with her immediately to a place called Camp Half-Blood a secret camp for demigods, who are half human and half god. After being at camp for a few days Jason and his friends learn who their godly parents are, Leo who is the son of Hephaestus, Piper who is the daughter of Aphrodite, and Jason who is the son of Zeus, king of the gods. While at camp Jason also learns that Hera, the queen of the gods, has been captured and is being used to summon a great monster and he also learns of a prophecy that he must fulfill with, his friends and a helpful bronze dragon named Festus, to save Hera and the world.
I feel bad for Jason up until about 5 days ago he had no idea who he was, and now he has fought evil wind demons, nearly been killed only about a dozen times, has been sucked into a friendship he doesn't even remember, and know he is suppose to follow a prophecy, lead a band of seven demigods who want to kill each other, and save the world. Talk about having a bad week. However, it does seem that some of his memories are returning and that he seems to be adapting to his new life pretty quickly, but I wonder what this strange feeling that Jason keeps describing about how he feels he should not be at Camp Half-Blood and that's it's dangerous for him there is? And what does Chiron mean when he says that Jason should be dead? In the end there are to many questions left to answer, I can only hope that Jason can overcome his enemies and learns the truth about himself.
Overall I find that the Lost Hero is a great story full of fear, suspense, and laughs, and trust me when I say that once you finish the story you'll only want more. This is yet another outstanding novel full of lessons, excitement, and joy that I will never forget.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

In the story the Outsiders a young fourteen year old boy named Ponyboy, lives in a small, dangerous town, where two groups the Greasers and the Socs reside. These groups are only a few of the many people who have been divided and forced against each due to society's stereotypes. These stereotypes cause these groups to focus only on the few differences between them, instead of the many similarities and values of each other. The story begins when Ponyboy and his friend Johnny, your typical greasers, go to the movies and meet two Social girls. One of these girls, Cherry, after talking to Ponyboy, realizes the similarities between her and Ponyboy and also sees the true value in Ponyboy. But, this friendly association quickly goes wrong after Bob, Cherry's boyfriend, gets angry with Ponyboy and Johnny and begins to threaten them. Several days later misfortune strikes both Ponyboy and Johnny after laying in the park around two A.M. in the morning, when suddenly Bob and a group of Socs attack them and try to drown Ponyboy. This attack forces Johnny to make a bold and daring decision that will change the lives and relationship between the Greasers and Socs forever.
After reading this suspenseful, tragic, cliff hanging novel I feel that I and many others have been changed forever by this stupendous story. After realizing the affects that stereotyping has on the youth and adults of a community, I have realized that what society and others labels me as does not affect or change who I am. This novel has also showed me that I should cherish what I have and always see the bright side of everyone and everything no matter how hopeless it may seem.
This shows how stereotypes can divide a society and cause unnecessary anger and hatred between two very similar groups. This a novel that I will never forget and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a tragic and heartwarming story that could change you forever.
